Such analyses confirmed the idea that release of acetylcholine does indeed occur in discrete packets, highly polar material which, in aqueous solution (in buffers) strongly adsorbs macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids, permitting their separation by virtue of the interaction with independdnt phosphate groups and calcium ions, as well as inependent physical adsorption.
